Chicken Coop Progress and Completion

Here's the frame from the old smokehouse, moved to the west side of the shop/shed/shack (as described by Ron/Toni/Holly, respectively).

We've got the lumber, chicken wire fencing...

And the manpower...

Framing the roof...

Nailing down the roof...

We have eight Rhode Island Reds who should start laying in another 3-5 months or next spring at the latest. We plan to add some Barred Rock chicks next spring as well.

West wall...

Nests are on the north side...still needs a finished roof and a coat of paint.

From west side view you can see their stairway in and out. But since they were too chicken to use it, we elevated the landing for an easier slant.

This south wall opens up for cleaning out the coop. Good stuff for the garden ;)

The girls are happy in the Craggs Castle tonight :D

We're ready for Craggs' Eggs!
